1979

Foundation

HELI-FLIGHT is founded - the beginning of a strong partner in civil aviation. The foundation stone is laid for decades of expertise in helicopter and aircraft operations.

1980

Maintenance operation

Establishment of our own maintenance operation. This ensures the highest technical quality and operational reliability at an early stage.

1981

Authorized dealer

HELI-FLIGHT becomes the first authorized dealer for Robinson helicopters in Germany. A significant step towards market leadership in the light helicopter segment.

1984

Expansion

The flight school is expanded to include single and twin-engine aircraft. As a result, the range of training courses on offer grows significantly and becomes more diverse.

1987

Helicopter

Deployment of the first intensive care transport helicopter in the Hessian air rescue service. HELI-FLIGHT assumes medical responsibility from the air.

1994

Organ transplantation

Start of close cooperation with the German Foundation for Organ Transplantation. HELI-FLIGHT becomes part of vital medical logistics.

1995

Emergency physician transport

Introduction of the emergency physician helicopter (NEH) in the district of Rostock. The new concept for transporting emergency doctors is becoming a model for many regions.

1996

Pipeline inspection

Start of permanent pipeline flights for large energy suppliers. Prevention and monitoring from the air becomes a permanent service.

2006

Commissioning AS 365 N

Commissioning of the AS 365 N helicopter - a powerful addition for demanding missions. HELI-FLIGHT once again relies on state-of-the-art technology.

2011

Base in Reichelsheim

Opening of the Johanniter base in Reichelsheim. At the same time, the first Robinson R66 in Europe is put into operation - a milestone.

2012

Start of operation

Start of operation of the AS 365 N2. HELI-FLIGHT is thus consistently expanding its air rescue capacities.

2013

Commissioning AS 365 N3

Commissioning of the AS 365 N3. Even more range and performance for operational use.

2014

Base in Gießen

Opening of the Johanniter base in Giessen. HELI-FLIGHT further expands its partnership with the air rescue service.

2016

Base at the Nürburgring

New Johanniter base opened at the Nürburgring. The presence in air rescue is growing continuously.

2017

1st Cessna Citation II

First Cessna Citation II is put into operation. HELI-FLIGHT successfully enters jet operations.

2018

Robinson R44 with autopilot

Commissioning of the H 155 - powerful and versatile. At the same time, the first Robinson R44 with autopilot is put into operation.

2019

1st Cessna Citation Bravo

Second Cessna Citation II and first Citation Bravo join the fleet. The business and ambulance flight sector is expanded.

2021

1st Airbus H 145 D3

First commissioning of the Airbus H 145 D3. A high-end rescue helicopter with state-of-the-art avionics.

2023

Takeover

HELI-FLIGHT becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of Johanniter Luftrettung on December 1 and becomes HELI-FLIGHT JLR gGmbH. The company headquarters will remain in Reichelsheim and all employees will be taken on.

2025

R66

HELI-FLIGHT JLR flies the first R66 with Horizontal Stabilizer in Germany. It ensures significantly better flight behavior, especially during high-speed flights.
